This page is a practical summary. The LICENSE file included with Sonata is the source of truth.

License Holders

The license identifies Hiddenmy and TariqIsHuman as the primary licensor parties.

Single Owner Usage

Sonata is licensed for one individual, company, or organization to use for their own hosting website. Examples:
  • An individual’s hosting brand website.
  • A company’s web hosting storefront.
  • One organization’s game hosting, VPS, app hosting, domain, or private node website.
  • A private internal demo for the same licensed owner.
The license does not cover client work, resale, redistribution, marketplace bundling, or selling websites based on Sonata.

You May

  • Use Sonata for your own individual, company, or organization hosting website.
  • Modify Sonata for your own licensed website.
  • Change branding, layout, colors, product data, integrations, and content.
  • Deploy the licensed website to production.
  • Make private backups for internal development.

You May Not

  • Use Sonata to build websites for clients.
  • Sell finished websites or apps made with Sonata.
  • Resell Sonata.
  • Redistribute Sonata.
  • Sublicense Sonata.
  • Leak or share the source.
  • Publish a nulled or cracked release.
  • Sell a modified copy as another theme.
  • Package it as a starter kit, UI kit, template, or source-code product.
  • Remove or tamper with license markers, download identifiers, or anti-piracy placeholders.

Client Work

Client work is not included in the standard Sonata license. If a client wants a website built with Sonata, the client must have their own valid license and written permission may be required depending on the arrangement. Do not use one license to serve multiple clients, companies, brands, or unrelated projects.

Backups and Private Repositories

You may keep private backups and private repositories for licensed work. Make sure:
  • Repository access is limited to people working on the licensed project.
  • Public forks are disabled.
  • Build artifacts do not expose private source.
  • License markers remain intact.

Extended Rights

If you need client-work rights, resale, redistribution, marketplace bundling, or white-label rights, request written permission from Hiddenmy and TariqIsHuman.

Third-Party Packages

Sonata depends on third-party packages. Those packages remain under their own licenses. The Sonata Commercial License applies to Sonata itself and derivative Sonata materials, not to third-party packages beyond what their own licenses allow.

When to Ask for Permission

Ask before:
  • Bundling Sonata into another product.
  • Using Sonata for client work.
  • Selling a modified copy.
  • Giving reusable source access to another party.
  • Publishing the source in a public repository.
  • Removing marketplace or license markers.
